Aug. 4th 2018 1Congratulations to Ron Burgess on winning his 1st SSO Championship by defeating Rick Schultz in the final match 256 to 179 taking home the top prize of $1000.00 and the trophy. This was our Non-Champions Tournament. Ron qualified 1st with an average of 248 and total pin fall of 1486 to make it into the Elimination rounds and go on to win the final match. Ron also tied for the bottom spot in the second round with 215 needing to win a 9th / 10th frame roll-off to advance. Turns out this was an $840.00 difference between a win or a 9th place finish!

It's also interesting to note that Ron was also in a 9th and 10th frame Eliminations roll-off last month which he ended up losing to with Ken Wyatt who also went on to win the Tournament. So now in both cases the winner of the roll-off won the tournament. That's also two roll-offs in a row for Ron.

Aug. 4th 2018 2Congratulations also goes out to Rick Schultz on his second place finish. Rick received $500.00 for our 2nd place payout. Schultz advanced to the Elimination Rounds by being one of the top 3 Super Seniors to advance below the cut line. Rick averaged 211 with a 1265 6 game total and also averaged 225 in the Eliminations prior to shooting one of his lowest games for the day in the final match. Go figure!

This month's tournament was held at Sterling Lanes where we requested the Kegel Main Street Recreational Pattern. We would like to thank the management and staff for hosting our tournament this weekend.

Aug. 4th 2018

This month's tournament average was 202, 17 pins higher than our last tournament average of 185.

We had 62 bowlers in attendance this month. There were 29 super seniors and 5 super super seniors with the rest of our seniors.

We also had 22 bowlers in our Elimination Rounds, 8 SS and 2 SSS along with the rest of our seniors. This provided a little better than 1 in 3 cashing ratio for the tournament.

It took a total of 1296 and an average of 216 or better to make our regular cut line set by Sherri Verespej. High Qualifier was SS Ron Burgess. This was not the first time the high qualifier has won the tournament. There were two regular seniors and three super seniors and one super super senior below the cut line that advanced to our Elimination rounds.

There was one honor score of 297 and 11 in a row by John Ruggiero III in game 5 of qualifying.

The SSO will be providing 4 BONUS tournaments with a wider variety of formats in 2018.

We are proud to have  Ebonite Mail Logo 40 as our major sponsor for 2018
