Tournament has to go down in history as the most difficult, stressful and pressure packed event we have ever organized and make come to fruition. We had to change venues from Michigan to Ohio just to be able to bowl. This became venue change (change #1). We thought we were ready but this was not to be. On the Friday before the tournament and about 10 p.m. with the day almost over, we come to find out we require another venue change (change #2) Needless to say this came as a complete surprise to everyone. A special thank you to Lew and all the Directors, staff and volunteer helpers who pitched in to make this happen in such short notice.
I am woman, hear me roar.... Congratulations to Stacey Timmer on winning her first SSO Championship. She's the second female to win an SSO Championship. Stacey defeated our last tournament champion Bill Froberg in the final match 209 to 205 taking home the beautiful crystal pin trophy and the $1800 top prize. Bill sat down after the final match ending with a triple in the 10th. forcing Stacey to get a double and 7 pins to win. Stacey chose to finish the match and now that moment had come. She threw her own triple in the 10th winning the match and the tournament in great fashion. Stacey also qualified on top while averaging 257 after her first 6 games with a 1540 total pin fall. THIS IS AN SSO ALL TIME 6 GAME QUALIFYING RECORD! After 4 more rounds of Eliminations her total pin fall was 2444 or just 4 pins short of tying Gerald Johnson's Dec. 2017th record of 2448. She advanced through the stepladder finals with games of 212, 220, 215 and 257 gaining her a chance at an SSO Title. It's also worth noting Stacey's first three games of the day totaled 798.
