GJ Feb 25 2017Congratulations to Gerald Johnson on defeating last months champion Dave Patchen SS in the final match. This is Gerald's second championship this year. Gerald was also our high qualifier averaging 246 for this first 6 games and didn't get beat out in the first round :o).

The final match ended with a 215 tie requiring a 9th and 10th frame roll-off.  At the end of the 9th and 10th roll-off we still ended up with a tie when both players went strike, strike, 9 spare. In the second 9th and 10th match, Gerald got 9, spare, double 9 while Dave bowled 9, spare 9 to end up second providing us with the first double overtime final match. Gerald took home the trophy and the $1000 top prize.

DP 2nd Feb 25 2017Speaking of ties, both Dave and Gerald shot 248 in round 4 of Eliminations just before the final match. I'm not sure what went wrong in round 3 but Dave had 235 to Gerald's 233 which almost became another tie. Who's fault was that?

Congratulations also goes out to last month's champion SS Dave Patchen on his second place finish and the prize of $500. Dave qualified 3rd averaging 236 for his first 6 games.

This month's tournament took place at Imperial Lanes where we used the USBC White 1 for our tournament pattern. We would like to thank the management and staff for hosting our tournament this weekend.

We had 82 bowlers this weekend with 27 super seniors,  4 super super seniors and 2 female bowler in attendance. In our Elimination Rounds we had 7 SS,  1 SSS and 1 female along with the rest of our seniors.

Feb 25 2017

The Tournament average this weekend was 205, 1 pin more than our last tournament. It took a total of 1309 and an average of 218 or better to make it to the Elimination Rounds above the cut line.

There were two regular seniors, three super seniors and one super super senior below the cut line set by Joe Ciach. Dave Dunphy and Louis Sturm were the two Senior's, Mike Chapman, Howard Wilson and Lenny Kersten were the three SS and Len Cianciolo was the SSS to advance below the cut line.

We ended up with 27 bowlers in the Elimination Rounds, providing a little better than 1 in 3 cashing ratio for the tournament.

There were no honor scores however we had one 286 game by Gerald Johnson in game one. 788 was our highest series also by Gerald in his first 3 games of qualifying.
