Aug. 6th 2019 O/U Doubles Results

The 2019 Over / Under 50 Doubles was by far our most successful event.  We welcome our new Senior bowlers. We are very please with the communities response and at the same time saddened to hear some of our bowlers were not able to bowl due to how fast we were filled to capacity. We’re very pleased also how well our team pulled together to make this event our best, yet we know we have to do better going forward to deal with the high influx of bowlers we had in a very short time frame.

Congratulations to the team of Steve Jakubowski and Charles Easton on winning our Bonus, Special Event, SSO Over / Under 50 Doubles tournament by defeating the past Doubles Champion team of Gerald Johnson and Jordan Hornes in the final match 492 to 343 (team scores). This is Steve’s and Charles’s second Doubles Championship. Steve and Charles took away the $4000.00 top prize and trophy as well as Steve obtaining 10 points towards our  2019 Bowler of the Year race. Our champs qualified in 6th spot with a total pin fall of 2633 and a combined average of better than 219. In Round 3 of Elimination they advanced to Round 4 by just 6 pins with 429 over the team of Stan Filipowski and Craig Johnsn. It turns out that’s a difference of $3450.00 in their pay day as well as a Double Championship Title for these 6 extra pins.

We’d like to also congratulate our past doubles Champions Gerald and Jordan on their second place finish in taking home our second place prize of $2000. This finish will earn Gerald 8 points in  our BOTY race. Gerald’s team qualified 3rd with a total combined pin fall of 2684 averaging better than 224.

This month’s tournament was held at Rose Bowl Lanes where we requested the Kegel Sunset Strip Sport oiling pattern. We would like to thank the management and staff for hosting our tournament this weekend.

From left to right…  Jordan Hornes, Gerald Johnson, Steve Ewald, Steve Jakubowski and Charles Easton.

The Tournament Average was 199, 11 pins lower than last months tournament.

High Qualifiers this month was the team of  Steve Mrakitsch and Dan Jordan with 2830 for 6 games, averaging better than a combined 234.

It took a total of 2495 and a combined average of 208 or better to make our regular cut line set by the team of Arnie Goldman and Terry Haines.

We had a record 96 teams filling the bowling center wall to wall. There were 18 Super Seniors, 2 Super Super Seniors, 1 female along with the rest of our seniors and 96 bowlers under 50 years of age.

We also had 28 teams in our Elimination Rounds with only 3 Super Seniors making the cut. , 9 SS and 2 SSS along with the rest of our seniors. This provided a little better than 1 in 3.5 cashing ratio for the tournament.

There were 3 honor scores. Dan Jordan had an 843 series including a 298 game for 11 in a row and Pete Kaczmarczky had 11 in a row 299 in game 2 of qualifying.
