July 18th 2020 Results
Congratulations to Jeff Kendall on winning his 1st SSO Championship by defeating Fred McClain SSS in the final match 236 to 223 taking home the top prize of $1000.00, the trophy and 10 points toward this season’s BOTY category. Jeff qualified 5th with an average of 239 and total pin fall of 1433 to make it into the Elimination rounds. Jeff’s previous best was a second place back in Nov. 2018.
Congratulations also goes out to Fred McClain SSS on his second place finish. McClain received $500.00 for our 2nd place payout and 8 point for his BOTY standings. Fred qualified in 7th spot shooting a 279 in his 6 game block with an average better than 233. Fred’s low game of the day still got him into the second round of Elimination by 4 pins.
This month’s tournament was held at Southwyck Lanes in Toledo Ohio where we requested their modified house pattern. We would like to thank the management and staff for hosting our tournament this weekend.
This month’s tournament average was 211, the same average as our July 18th event at that location.
We had 67 bowlers in attendance this month. There were 24 super seniors and 3 super super seniors with the rest of our seniors.
We also had 20 bowlers in our Elimination Rounds, 18 SS, 9 SSS, and 6 women along with the rest of our seniors. This provided a little better than 1 in 3 cashing ratio for the tournament.
It took a total of 1356 and an average of 226 or better to make our regular cut line set by Bob Sellers. High Qualifier was Michael Haggitt with 1508 total pin fall with an average of 251 after his first 6 games. There were 3 SSS and 2 women bowlers in our Elimination Rounds along with the rest of our seniors.
There were two 299 games (11 in a row) one by Maurice Moore in his first game of qualifying and the other was by Bill Essman in this first game of our Elimination Rounds.
