July 20th 2019 Results
Congratulations goes out again this month to HOF’r Gerald Johnson on winning his second SSO Singles Championship this year by defeating Steve Jakubowski in the final match 232 to 154, taking home our top prize of $1000.00, the trophy and earning 10 more points towards our BOTY standings. This win was Gerald’s second in a row also this year. Gerald qualified 4th this month with a total pin fall of 1194 and an average of 199 on a very difficult oiling pattern. This was also Gerald’s 20th SSO Championship. Gerald also advanced to round 2 in Eliminations by just 5 pins after he bowled his lowest game of the day of 165. Johnson then continued his run in our Eliminations by averaging 210 for his next 5 games however saved his best game of the day for the final match.
Congratulations also to former champion Steve Jakubowski on his second place finish, winning $500 and picking up 8 points towards BOTY. Steve qualified in second place this month with 1228 total pins and averaging 199. Jakubowski also just squeezed into round 4 by just 3 pins. In the final match Steve saved one of his lowest games for his last game of the day.
This month’s tournament was held at Weslant Bowl where we requested a “Modified House pattern”. Well, as we all know, that didn’t happen! We would like to thank the management and staff for hosting our tournament this weekend.
The Tournament Average was 182, or 15 pins lower that the previous months sport pattern.
High Qualifier this month was Tony Stipcak SS with 1235 for 6 games, averaging better than 206.
It took a total of 1155 and an average of 193 or better to make our regular cut line set by Ron Burgess SS.
We had 54 bowlers in attendance this month. There were 16 super seniors, 5 super super seniors including 3 women with the rest of our seniors.
We also had 20 bowlers advance to our Elimination Rounds, 2 women, 7 SS and 2 SSS along with the rest of our seniors. This provided a little better than 1 in 3 cashing ratio for the tournament.
