Congratulations goes out this month to HOF’r Gerald Johnson on winning his first SSO Singles Championship this year by defeating John Chapman from Toronto Ontario in the final match 248 to 172, taking home our top prize of $1000.00, the trophy and earning 10 points towards our BOTY standings. Gerald qualified second this month with a total pin fall of 1478 and an average of 246. Johnson then continued his run in our Eliminations by averaging 232 for his next 5 games. Gerald’s low game of the day was 205 with his highest game coming in round 2 with 267.
Congratulations also to former champion John Chapman on his second place finish, winning $500 and picking up 8 points towards BOTY. John qualified below the regular cut line in 16th however was one of our 2 seniors below the cut line to advance to the Elimination rounds. His 208 average in qualifying was good enough to allow him a chance in the finals to win another championship. Chapman averaged 222 in the Elimination rounds and advanced to round 4 by just 4 pins but then saved his lowest game of the day for the finals like many others before him. Great bowling just the same John!.
This month’s tournament was held at Town and Country Lanes where we requested the “Kegel Route 66” sport shot pattern. We would like to thank the management and staff for hosting our tournament this weekend.
The Tournament Average was 197, 18 pins lower than last months singles event.
High Qualifier this month was Steve Jakubowski with 1485 for 6 games, averaging better than 248.
It took a total of 1282 and an average of 214 or better to make our regular cut line set by Glenn Pilon, for the second time in a row.
We had 52 bowlers in attendance this month. There were 15 super seniors, 5 super super seniors with the rest of our seniors.
We also had 19 bowlers in our Elimination Rounds, 5 SS and 1 SSS along with the rest of our seniors. This provided a little better than 1 in 3 cashing ratio for the tournament.
There were 2 honor scores from our high qualifier, Steve Jakubowski who had an 816 series and also shot a 300 game in his final game of qualifying.
