Monroe Sports Center – March 21, 2026

Congratulations to Chuck Reynolds Jr. on his 1st SSO title as he defeated Brian Newcomb 258-236 at Monroe Sports Center in Monroe. In an exciting championship match, both players threw strikes early, Reynolds started with the front 7 and Newcomb start strike, spare, 4 bagger. Reynolds left back-to-back 10 pins in the 8th and 9th frames however, Newcomb went high and left the 2-4 in 7th frame. Newcomb struck in the 8th and 9th, which meant Reynolds could shut out Newcomb by striking out in the 10th frame, however, Reynolds went strike/spare for 258, giving Newcomb a chance to strike out in his 10th to tie. Newcomb threw a great first shot, however, left a ringing 7 pin which ended his hopes for his 5th title. Reynolds Jr. received the first-place check of $1,100, while Newcomb collected $600 for second. We had another great turnout of 115 bowlers at Monroe Sports Center, our first visit to this center and hopefully won’t be our last! Thank you to everyone!

During qualifying, Scott Mather led the way with an impressive 6 game block of 1540, followed closely by Michelle Berryman with a great block of 1520, which included an 812 series in games 1-3. High game of the day was 299, shot by Carleton Chambers and Erick Schenavar.

The cut to make the top 28 was 1387 (Scot Woodward). Our extras out of the cut to move on in the elimination rounds: In the Senior Division (50+): Brad Gray (1385) and Joe Ciach (1375); In the Super Senior division (60+) Dave Tulak (1375), John Goormastic (1367), Tom Sisk (1366), and Lamont Neal (1353); In the super-super senior division (70+) Ron Toswell (1328) and Ron Burgess (1296); In the women’s division was Misty Mathews (1302) and Stacey Timmer (1282).
