Summit Match Game Championship
Congratulations to Randy Warnken for winning his 2nd SSO title at Summit Entertainment Center in Washington. Warnken defeated Kerry Kreft 237- 218 in the title match. In the championship match, this looked like it was going to be a blowout, with Warnken starting the match with a 5-bagger, while Kreft had carry issues on the right lane. Kreft finished strong, however, Warnken built up a lead he would never relinquish. Warnken received $1,000 for his first-place finish while Kreft, looking for his first title, collected $500 for second. We had another great turnout of 99 bowlers at Galaxy Lanes.
Warnken was the 7th seed after qualifying and his road to the final match included wins against Dan Gennety, Larry Walker, Kris Warner and Troy Stus. Kreft was the 4th seed and his road included wins against Jamie Adams, Rick Wayne, Lamont Neal and Bo Goergen.
Dale Strike was our high qualifier with an impressive 1473. Right behind Strike was Kris Warner (1462), Troy Stus (1455), and Kreft (1451). The cut to make the top 24 was 1324 (Brad Gray). Our extras out of the cut to move on to match play were Gary Duarard (1321) and Dan Gennety (1321) in the senior division (50+); Joe Krajenke (1273), Jamie Adams (1264), Bill Essman (1254), Ed Peart (1252) and Keith Caldwell (1252) from the super senior division (60+); Dave Eatmon (1230) received the last check ($175) as the only super-super senior division (70+) out of the cut. Our one additional lady was Stacey Timmer (1285). Kris Warner had the lone 300 game of the tournament.
