Congratulations to Mark Brown on his 1st SSO title as he defeated Chris Toyias 258-193 at Lodge Lanes in Belleville. In the championship match, Brown started with three strikes, while Toyias opened in two of his first three frames, giving Brown a big lead early and he never looked back. Toyias just couldn’t get lined up on the championship pair, while Brown striking fairly easy, especially on the right lane. Brown received the first-place check of $1,000, while Toyias, also looking for his first SSO title, collected $500 for second. We had 83 entries at Lodge Lanes, thank you to everyone for your continued support of the SSO!

During qualifying, Troy Stus led the way with an impressive 6 game block of 1491, followed closely by Dale Hofmeister with 1483, and Chris Toyias with 1475. High game of the day was 300 shot by Hall of Famer Gerald Johnson in game 1 of the elimination rounds.

The cut to make the top 20 was 1374 (Keith Engling, Nevelle Kirby). Our extras out of the cut to move on in the elimination rounds: In the Senior division (50+) Tom Bond (1372); Super Senior division (60+) Mike Calvin (1370), Larry Walker (1365), Bobby Nelson (1364), Mike Bosco (1361), and Rick Haist (1359); In the super-super senior division (70+) Mike Lucente (1279) and Ron Toswell (1257); In the women’s division was Sandy Schultz (1360).
