Plaza Lanes – October 17, 2026

Congratulations to Mike Stout on winning his 1st SSO title as he defeated Don Nyenhuis 254-236 at Plaza Lanes in Plymouth. The championship match started out like it might be a runaway for Stout as he started with a 5 bagger, while Nyenhuis started with a nine pin and ten pin followed by a Brooklyn strike. As in almost all our title matches however, this match was going to come down to the 10th frame. Nyenhuis righted the ship by throwing the next 5 out of 6 strikes, while Stout got a couple bad breaks in the 6th and 7th frames with a 6 pin and solid 9. Nyenhuis had a chance to put the pressure on in the 10th but left a solid 10 pin. This meant Stout needed a mark in the 10th for the win and threw a clutch strike to win the match. Stout received the first-place check of $1,000, while Nyenhuis, looking for his first SSO title, collected $500 for second. We had 90 entries at Plaza Lanes, thank you to everyone for your continued support of the SSO!

During qualifying, Mark Milasinovich led qualifying with an amazing 6 game block of 1500. Hall of Famer Gerald Johnson was right behind Milasinovich with 1477, followed by Carleton Chambers with 1468 and Darrin Greene with 1463. High game of the day was 300 shot by Gerald Johnson in game 4 of qualifying. The field averaged 215.38 during qualifying.

The cut to make the top 22 was 1359 (Dave Schumacher). Our extras out of the cut to move on in the elimination rounds: In the Senior division (50+) Lou Stempien (1357); Super Senior division (60+) Larry Salvati (1351), Frank Camilleri (1351), Mostafa Nejatbakhsh (1347), Bobby Nelson (1341), and Keith Caldwell (1328); In the super-super senior division (70+) Mark Fagenson (1357), Mike Lucente (1294) and Tony Stipcak (1290); In the women’s division was Teri White (1254).
