Congratulations goes out this month to Troy Stus on winning his third SSO Championship by defeating John Goormastic in the final match 258 to 184, taking home our top prize of $1000.00, the trophy and earning 10 more points towards our BOTY standings. Stus qualified 2nd with 1381 this month with an average of 230. He also came out of the gate with the tournaments high game of the day with an 11 in a row 298. Troy averaged better than 241 during his 5 game Elimination rounds as well. It was definitely his day and was not to be denied.
Congratulations also to John Goormastic on his second place finish winning $500 and picking up 8 points towards BOTY. John qualified this month in 9th with an average of 211 and a total pin fall of 1267 for his first 6 games.
This month’s tournament was held at Thunderbowl Lanes where we requested the Kegel Taj Mahal sport oiling pattern. We would like to thank the management and staff for hosting our tournament this weekend. The Tournament Average was 186, or 30 pins lower than our previous singles event.
High Qualifier this month was Mike Calvin with 1448 for 6 games, averaging better than 241.
It took a total of 1176 and an average of 196 or better to make our regular cut line set by Robert Michaux.
We had 76 bowlers in attendance this month. There were 27 super seniors and 9 super super seniors with the rest of our regular seniors.
We also had 25 bowlers advance to our Elimination Rounds, 11 SS and 1 SSS along with the rest of our regular seniors. This provided a little better than 1 in 3 cashing ratio for the tournament.
There were no 300 games or 800 series but we had a 298 by Troy Stus in game one of qualifying.
