Jax60 Doubles – April 4, 2026
Congratulations to Jay Lang and John Kelley for winning the SSO Over/Under doubles tournament at JAX 60 in Jackson. Lang and Kelley defeated our Canadian friends Joe Ciach and Ryan Setton 429-408. In the title match, it was Kelley who figured out the tricky championship pair shooting a 257, while partner Jay Lang had trouble most of the game finishing with 172. Ciach had similar issues with the pair, posting 184, while Setton had a very respectable 224. Ciach and Setton finished on the right lane and needed to each strike out in the 10th frame to tie, which was asking a lot on the championship pair. Ciach went high leaving a 3-pin ending their chance at the title. Lang, winning his 1st SSO title, and Kelley received $5000 for their first-place finish while Ciach, looking for his 3rd SSO title, and Setton collected $2500 for second.
We had 93 teams vying for the title at JAX 60. Scores were very good during the qualifying rounds, as the Over 50 bowlers averaged 212, and the Under 50 bowlers averaged 223. Hall of Famer Ken Wyatt and partner Kyle King led qualifying with an impressive score of 2947, narrowly ahead of Andy Schnebelt and Cory Hines who posted 2943. The cut to make the 26-team elimination round was 2695 (Craig Johnson & Scott Clemons).
High scores during qualifying included 300 games by Cory Hines, Alex Ouellette, and Brandon Leavitt. Hines went on to roll 816 for his first 3 games, while Ouellette was the high 3-game series with 824 during his first 3 games of qualifying. High game for the seniors in qualifying was Chris Toyias with 290. Lang’s first game of 298 in the elimination rounds was high game of the day for our seniors.
