successteamwork2Another successful doubles event despite the closed boarders preventing all our Canadian competitors from entering! The SSO would like to thank all our volunteers, staff and especially all our participants for making this tournament possible under these difficult times.

Oct. 3 2020 1Congratulations to the team of Eddie Mintz SS and George Juszczyk on winning this month's BONUS SSO Over/Under 50 Doubles Tournament by bowling 474 to a losing 447 in their final match. The team took home the top prize of $4,000.00, the first place trophies and Eddie gets 10 more points in our BOTY category. Eddies team qualified in 5th after our 6 games with a combined 234 average and a total combined pin fall of 2804. George also shot the highest game during Game 3 of qualifying with an eleven in a row 296.

Oct. 3 2020 2We would also like to congratulate the team of Dale Hofmiester and Andre Gonzales on their second place finish taking home our second place prize of $2,000.00. Dale will receive 8 points towards his BOTY total. Dale also shot a Perfect Game in game 4 of Qualifying. This team qualified in 15th with a combined average of 228 with a combined total pin fall of 2732.

The area around the "Cut Line" we very interesting. Dale Strike and Alex Ouellette were the cut line in position 24 averaging 222. One other team averaged 222 but were just 2 pins higher in totals. Then there were two ties at 223 and a 4 way tie at 224 above the cut line. There were 4 teams that averaged 221 and were slightly below the cut line and then came teams with a 220 and 219 averages. Very close to say the least. Imagine now how important a spare is and even how a single pin can make the difference between advancing or going home early.

red wowSpeaking of interesting. Lets take a closer look at the Eliminations. In Round 1 team Jakubowski had 424. They missed advancing by just 1 pin! In Round 2 there were 3 teams who also missed moving on by just 1 pin because of this 3 way tie we had! They all had a 435 total and the team with 436 advanced to Round 3. In Round 3 team Green had 432 where team Strike had 435. That's just 3 pins away from the semi finals! Oh so close!

This month's tournament was held at Westland Bowl where we requested their house oiling pattern. We would like to thank the management and staff for hosting our tournament this weekend.

We had 74 teams or 148 bowlers in attendance this month. There were 12 super seniors, no super super seniors and 1 female with the rest of our seniors.

We also had 24 teams in our Elimination Rounds, 4 SS and no SSS with the rest of our seniors. This provided a little better than 1 in 3 cashing ratio for the tournament.

High qualifying team was Bo Goergen and Brian Waliczek with 2953 total combined pin fall with an average of 246 after his first 6 games. Bo and Brian took third place.!

There were a few honor scores we'd like to mention. We had:

3 - 290s Carleton Chambers, Craig Johnson and Brian Odom.

1 - 296 George Juszczyk.

1 - 297 Charles McLeoud.

2 - 299 Brian Waliczek and Ronnie Sparks.

5 - 300s Chris Nielson, Dave Schumacher, Perry Crowell, Bill Stephenson and Dale Hofmeister.

4 - 800s Chris Nielson 810, Perry Crowell 836, Charles McLeoud 826 and Brian Ivey 804.
