Below you will find a list of all our Past Champions from previous tournaments. Tournament positions will be the basis for the point system for Bowler Of The Year. Please note that there were no tournaments held in some months of 2011. Back links are provided to the tournament results by simply clicking on the Bowler's name.

5 Star Lanes – November 15, 2025

Congratulations to Hall of Famer Mike Calvin on his 9th SSO title as he defeated Randy Warnken 277-256 at 5 Star Lanes in Sterling Heights. In the championship match, both players came out of the gate striking throwing 7 baggers, however, the 8th frame proved to be the downfall for Warnken as he got a horrible break leaving a pocket 7-10 split. Calvin struck in the 8th before leaving the 3-6 in the 9th frame. Warnken finished strong, however, Calvin only needed a mark in the 10th to win and was able double for the win. Calvin received the first-place check of $1,200, while Warnken, looking for his third title, collected $600 for second. We had an outstanding turnout of 125 bowlers at 5 Star. During qualifying, Hall of Famer Gerald Johnson led the way with an impressive 6 game block of 1509, followed closely by Mark Theil with 1505.

Plaza Lanes – October 18, 2025

Congratulations to Hall of Famer Dave Schumacher on his 2nd SSO title as he defeated Larry Salvati, one of current inductees into the SSO Hall of Fame, 246-229 at Plaza Lanes in Plymouth. In the championship match, both players came out of the gate striking, however, the 7th frame proved to be the downfall for Salvati as he left the 2-4-10 split and missed all 3 pins for an open frame. Schumacher filled frames and coasted to his second victory and the first-place check of $1,000, while Salvati, also looking for his second title, collected $500 for second. We had another great turnout of 91 bowlers at Plaza. During qualifying, Hall of Famer Ken Wyatt led the way with an impressive 6 game block of 1532, followed closely by Dale Hofmeister (1531), another current inductee to the SSO Hall of Fame.

Westland Over/Under Doubles – October 4, 2025

Congratulations to Eric Wayne and Dylan Kelley for winning the SSO Over/Under doubles tournament at Westland Bowl. Wayne and Kelley defeated Dale Strike and Alex Ouellette 461-416. In the title match, it was Wayne and Kelley who were able to string a few strikes together on a very demanding lane condition at Westland Bowl, while Strike and Ouellette had some carry issues especially on the right lane on their way to a respectable game, however it wasn’t enough. Wayne, winning his 1st SSO title, and Kelley received $4000 for their first-place finish, while Strike and Ouellette collected $2500 for their runner-up finish.

Town N Country – September 20, 2025

Congratulations to Dwayne Anderson on his 1st SSO title as he defeated Hall of Famer Ken Wyatt 245-179 at Town N Country Lanes in Westland. In the championship match, Anderson came out of the gate striking, while Wyatt never got started, have carry issues throughout the match. Anderson coasted to his first victory and the first place check of $1,000, while Wyatt, looking for his first 16th title, collected $500 for second. We had another great turnout of 89 bowlers at Town N Country. During qualifying, Cliff Crawford led the way with an impressive 6 game block of 1498, followed closely by Troy Stus (1496), and Larry Walker (1464) and Michael Haggitt (1463). Crawford, Mike Snow and Conn Casey all shot 300 during the qualifying round.

300 Bowl – August 23, 2025

Congratulations to Troy Stus on his 6th SSO title as he defeated Kris Warner 278-225 at 300 Bowl in Waterford. In the championship match, Warner started with two spares, which turned out to be one too many, as Stus started with the front 8 before leaving the 2-5 in the 9th frame. Stus received $1,000 for his first-place finish while Warner, looking for his first SSO title, collected $500 for second. We had another great turnout of 97 bowlers at 300 Bowl.

Century Bowl – August 2, 2025

Congratulations to Jessie Bowersock on his 1st SSO title as he defeated Kerry Kreft 226-205 at our non-champions event at Century Bowl in Waterford. In the championship match, Bowersock fell behind early as Kreft was able to pull out to an early lead with a triple to start the game. Things looked even more bleak for Bowersock when he missed a 4 pin in the 7th frame. However, carry issues plagued Kreft the ladder part of the match leaving a couple 10 pins in frames 8 & 9, then a costly open in the 10th which gave Bowersock the chance to win with a strike in the 10th.

Lodge Lanes – July 19, 2025

Congratulations to Mike Calvin and Brian Newcomb on winning our Match-Up Doubles held at Lodge Lanes. Calvin and Newcomb defeated Arnie Goldman and Butch Cormier 482-470 to take home the title. This was Calvin’s 8th SSO title, while Newcomb earned his 4th SSO title. The title match, Calvin and Newcomb pulled away early to a 22-pin lead, however, as most of our title matches do, this one came down to the 10th frame. Newcomb struggled to strike late, finishing with 214, while Calvin continued his hot bowling striking out for 268. This still gave Goldman/Cormier a chance to win with a couple doubles. Goldman went spare/strike, giving Cormier a chance to strikeout to win by a pin, however, he left a pesky 7-pin on his first shot in the 10th. Calvin and Newcomb collected $1000 each for their win, while Goldman and Cormier received $500 each.

Woodland Lanes – June 28, 2025

Congratulations to Norm Smith on his 2nd SSO Title as he defeated Dan Gennety 242-222 at Woodland Lanes in Livonia. In the championship match, Gennety was able to pull out to an early lead with a triple in frames 2-4, but a big split in the 5th frame (3-4-6-7-10) turned out to be his undoing. That open frame opened the door for Smith who promptly threw a 5 bagger in frames 6-10 to close out the match. Smith received $1,000 for his first-place finish while Gennety, looking for his first title, collected $500 for second. We had another great turnout of 84 bowlers at Woodland Lanes.

Oak Lanes – May 17, 2025

Congratulations to Brad Gray for winning his 3rd SSO title at Oak Lanes in Westland. Gray defeated Pete Kaczmarczyk 213-192 in the title match. In the championship match, carry issues plagued both bowlers – Gray left five 7-pins, while Kaczmarczyk left five 10-pins. Unfortunately for Kaczmarczyk, a missed 10-pin in the 7th frame proved to be costly, Gray was able to catch a 3-bagger and stay clean the rest of the way to capture the title. Gray received $1,000 for his first-place finish while Kaczmarczyk, looking for his fourth title, collected $500 for second. We had another great turnout of 88 bowlers at Oak Lanes.

Summit Match Game Championship – Apr 19, 2025

Congratulations to Randy Warnken for winning his 2nd SSO title at Summit Entertainment Center in Washington. Warnken defeated Kerry Kreft 237- 218 in the title match. In the championship match, this looked like it was going to be a blowout, with Warnken starting the match with a 5-bagger, while Kreft had carry issues on the right lane. Kreft finished strong, however, Warnken built up a lead he would never relinquish. Warnken received $1,000 for his first-place finish while Kreft, looking for his first title, collected $500 for second. We had another great turnout of 99 bowlers at Galaxy Lanes.
